Typically Funk is a highly rhythmic style of music where a standard melody can take a back seat with the bass guitar and drums taking the lead. Many great artists have pioneered and led to the popularity of this genre, one in which songs could be born from a one chord jam, although James Brown is perhaps the most popular and widely cited.
