| A selection of music loops drawn together from White Beetle royalty free music's Funk library. Funk is an American based music genre with mid to late 1960s origins where principally African American musicians fused soul, jazz and R&B. Typically Funk is a highly rhythmic style of music where a standard melody can take a back seat with the bass guitar and drums taking the lead. Many great artists have pioneered and led to the popularity of this genre, one in which songs could be born from a one chord jam, although James Brown is perhaps the most popular and widely cited.
Other important Funk outfits include The Meters, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, Curtis Mayfield, The Funk Brothers, George Porter Jr, Sly and the Family Stone, Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & the Gang, and more recently Prince. As a genre Funk went on to play a huge influence on disco, and whose heritage can still be felt today via house, hip-hop and modern dance music.
