The wonderful and instantly recognizable first movement from Sonata no. 17 in C which was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is brought to as on hold music. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) is one of the most prolific and influential composers of the Classical era. He actually composed more than six hundred musical works. As a young boy growing up in Salzburg, Mozart showed prodigious musical ability. By the age of five he was competent on keyboard and violin and had even begun composing. By the age of seventeen he worked as a court musician but quickly grew restless and travelled looking for work while all the time composing. He spent most of his short life living and composing in Vienna where he achieved fame but never financial stability. In the last years of his life he composed much of his best received symphonies, concertos, operas, and the Requiem. Dying at the age of thirty five Mozart left behind a wife and two sons.
Joseph Haydn's famous quote "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years" is in no means flattery as few composers have possessed his innate abilities to learn from others and then to transcend them. His style was brilliant and beyond his years as he was able to express the most tender and light of emotions right through to the dark and passionate.
