Agnus Dei (translated from Latin it means Lamb of God) is a one minute and seven seconds long medieval instrumental that has been recreated digitally using sounds from a harp and a horn section. Written by Guillaume de Machaut (1300-77). Agnus Dei has a deep religious context and in visual art would have been seen as Jesus holding a lamb which is sometimes depicted as having a bleeding heart pouring into a cup. Royalty free music that is suitable for all kinds of media productions, including Film production, Medieval dramas and Medieval history documentaries.
Religious connotations aside Agnus Dei does posses that quintessential Medieval sound and easily conjures up images of someone's grand entrance in a northern European castle or royal court with polished horns and decorative flags raised on either side of his or her approach. We have few authentic examples of Medieval music today and Agnus Dei which would probably have had differing instrumentation in its era, is an authentic and quite powerful and regal example of Medieval music.
This track is also available on Celtic, Medieval and Dark CD - Volume One.
