A very melodic steel string acoustic guitar piece in a British Folk/Celtic Style. This recording is taken from a stereo miced Martin Acoustic guitar that is played in the finger picking style. With a short and medium tempo Glanrafon has a running time of fifty three seconds. A pretty piece of free music depicting rural countryside, mountain streams and broadleaved woods and forests.
Perhaps the style of guitar playing can be likened to that of Bert Jansch, Davey Graham, Roy Harper, Richard Thompson and Jimmy Page, with the latter's famous piece Bron Yr Aur from Led Zeppelin's double album Physical Graffiti being an obvious influence both in name and style.
The brief length of this piece of music lends itself to nicely to media requiring incidental music that has a authentic sound and a definite finish as opposed to a fade out. As well as media requiring a Celtic feel. To suit all kinds of media.
Celtic music is a very broad and general term for music that has developed through out history in the North Western Europe by Celtic tribes and Celtic people (most notably the Scottish, Irish and Manx and the Welsh, Cornish and Bretons). Much of it is still transmitted orally and it is integral to Celtic culture which is also commonly expressed in dance, stories, poetry and crafts.
Though it has become commercialised in the last thirty years to considerable success though not without diluting its traditional feel it can also be said that Celtic Music has successfully adapted itself to the modern world.
Composed by Henry John Milner. Other music by this composer.
