The "Maple Leaf Rag" was written for piano by Scott Joplin in 1897 and although one Joplin's early works it is one of the most famous of all ragtime pieces and became the first piece of instrumental music to sell over one million copies of sheets music. The composition has four parts each features a recurring theme a strong left hand bass line, lots of seventh chords and very catchy syncopation. This version of Maple Leaf Rag has a running time of one minute.
